Getting involved
At NES we have a strong commitment to involving patients, carers, families, service users, trainees and students in the design and delivery of our training and educational activities
Involving people gives them the opportunity to shape and influence training and education for NHS staff as well as provide their stories to help us improve our services. These contributions have made a real difference to the patient experience and the quality of care in NHSScotland
We have enjoyed working with a range of individuals who have
generously given their time, energy and expertise to help ensure
our educational support is of the highest quality. During the
past 10 years volunteers have served as expert advisers on project
steering groups, told us their patient/carer stories, reviewed
educational research proposals, checked our publications for Plain
English and much, much more.
In return, we aim to provide you with an interesting, stimulating
and supportive environment in which to be involved or
volunteer. Volunteers at NES are always valued, and we
understand our responsibility for ensuring that you benefit from
your experience too. We were proud to achieve the Investors
in Volunteers standard in 2010, which we hope to renew in 2013.
We also greatly value our partnerships with stakeholder organisations and the participation of NHS staff, students and trainees, voluntary organisations, others in our work. The knowledge and experience contributed by external organisations and individuals is important in meeting the needs of patients, professionals and healthcare services.
If you're interested in volunteering with NES, look out for
